Toyota Announces Massive Vehicle Recall Over Engine Defect

According to USA TODAY, Toyota has announced the recall of more than 126,000 Toyota and Lexus vehicles due to engine failures that could increase the risk of accidents.
The report published by the NHTSA detailed that the affected models are equipped with the V35A engine, which is susceptible to internal contamination.
Residue from the machining process may cause failures in the main bearings and shut down the engine suddenly.
The company warned that the loss of power raises the risk of accidents while driving.

Most of the affected vehicles are Toyota Tundra trucks manufactured between 2022 and 2024.
The recall also includes Lexus LX units from 2022 to 2024 and the 2024 Lexus GX.
This announcement expands on a previous recall reported in May 2024 for similar engine problems.
Toyota attributes the issue to residue that was not properly removed during the engine manufacturing process.
Toyota Engine Recall Expands as Problem Grows

The announcement confirms that the recall covers a total of 126,691 vehicles across Toyota and Lexus.
This includes 113,079 Toyota Tundra units, representing the majority of the recall.
In addition, 9,895 Lexus LX units and 3,717 Lexus GX units from the 2024 model year are included.
All models share the V35A engine, which showed a risk of internal contamination.
Notices, Repairs, and Owner Information

Toyota stated that it is still developing a definitive solution to the detected problem.
The company confirmed it will perform all necessary repairs at no cost to vehicle owners.
Dealers were notified on November 6 about the initial recall protocol.
Owners of affected vehicles will begin receiving notices between December 22 and January 5.

Toyota reiterated that it continues investigating the full scope of the issue to ensure all affected vehicles receive proper repairs.
The company added that any updates will be communicated directly to owners and dealers through official channels.

Toyota reaffirmed its commitment to driver safety and stated it will continue offering support throughout the entire correction process.
